the universe unfolds earnestly
As we rush about our lives, hurried in nearly all we do, the universe unfolds earnestly. Checklists and obligations, goals just out of reach keep us striving. Still, the universe unfolds earnestly.
We seek direction, comfort and certainty from the intellect of human beings while struggling through the clutter and chaos of being human. Somewhere along the way, we began a devout religion to human intelligence forsaking wisdom we can not measure with man-made tools. We’re quick to denounce intelligences of the heart and nature as blasphemy — rejecting evidence that our obsession with the human-self will lead to our demise.
We’ve humanized God, enslaved nature and split ourselves right down the middle. We’re a species of drunk adolescents, rebelling from whence we came. The nature within us — the gentle prophet — a thing to oppress.
Still, the universe unfolds earnestly.
We’re blessed by the balance-seekers who migrate from deep within the fertile Earth, into noxious soil and through a nearly frozen surface where sunlight and oxygen offer hope for re-sprouting the severed roots of humanity.
And, we’re cursed by the dense, ill-fated features of our species, those ensnared in denial, distraction or psychopathy, who strive to outcompete the saplings of justice and unity, smothering them before they ascend the understory.
Still, the universe unfolds earnestly.
Our task is both simple and epic. We can make the choice to reclaim our essential nature, and listen, not to the noise of a man-made world, but to the gentle prophet within that guides all of life. It requires faith that beyond the brittle, broken and frozen ground ... beyond the understory and the canopy ... shines the sun. We must allow that sunshine into the place we call "intuition" where it can germinate our calling.
Regardless of the choice we make, the universe will unfold earnestly.
